Baltic Amber FAQ's
FAQ's
Our Dino-Daisy Baltic Amber Teething Jewellery is handcrafted for Lila & May by Australian designer and mum Kate from her home in NE Scotland.
*Exclusive in Australia to Lila & May!*
- Why buy Dino-Daisy Baltic Amber teething necklaces & anklets?
- Authentic Baltic amber from reputable suppliers in Lithuania
- All pieces are individually handmade in limited quantities
- All of the designs are tried and tested by mum Kate on her own little one
- Kate is very fussy about the finish of each item, and will not send out unchecked, mass produced jewellery
- How does Baltic Amber help with teething?
Baltic
amber contains Succinic Acid, a known analgesic reputed to boost the
immune system, reduce inflammation and accelerate the healing of wounds.
When worn by your little ones, the warmth from their body releases the
amber's natural oils into the skin, soothing the misery of teething
aches and pains. Baltic Amber is completely natural pain relief with no
side effects.
- Does Baltic Amber Teething Jewellery really work?
We
say YES!! Based on our own personal experience, chatting to other mums
and our customer's testimonials, Baltic amber is very effective in
calming and easing your little one's misery during teething.
- Who can wear Amber Teething Necklaces/Anklets?
Amber
baby jewellery is designed for both boys and girls. Although you can
start your child wearing amber at any time, the earlier the better and
the necklace may be worn from 8 weeks up. If your child wears it from a
young age they will not even know it is there and tend not to touch it
or pull on it.
- Are teething necklaces safe?
In
the creating of Dino-Daisy Jewellery every effort is made to ensure
it's safety. All beads are individually knotted and strong
beading cord, which will stretch when under pressure, is used. Twist clasps on necklaces will break apart under
force. Every item is checked again for quality just prior to being
delivered to you.
As
with anything, if used incorrectly, it can cause harm. It is recommended
that children only wear their amber jewellery whilst under supervision
and that they be kept out of reach of children and toddlers when not
being worn.
- How do I care for my Baltic amber jewellery?
Before
use, wash your beads in warm water, rinse well and dry. As they are
not designed for chewing, sterilisation should not be an issue, however
they can be wiped with baby safe antibacterial sterilising wipes.
Leaving your beads for a short time on a sunny window ledge is said to help release the ambers natural healing oils before use.
- Can Baltic amber be used as a natural remedy for other ailments?
As
amber contains a natural analgesic it is effective for rheumatoid
pains, migraines, general aches and pains, colds etc. It can be used be
everyone - not just teething babies, tots and kidlets.
Assuming
you don't have a lab handy and don't want to damage your amber, there
are a couple of simple tests you can carry out to ensure your money has
been spent on the real thing.
Amber
is a fossilised resin and not a gemstone. Due to it's properties it is
light and will float in salty water. Dissolve 7 tablespoons of salt in .25L of water. Place your amber in the water and it will float (if the
clasp is acrylic or metal it will weigh the amber down, so sit it over
the side of the glass).
Amber
has been associated with sunlight and warmth for centuries and when
worn next to your body will sit and your exact body temperature. Place
your amber jewellery in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. When you
take it out, it will not be chilled and will be close to the
temperature it was before going into the fridge.
This
might be a bit trickier with smaller amber beads, but worth trying. Rub
your jewellery vigorously against a piece of silk or wool. It will then
become heavily charged with static electricity and be able to attract
small, light items such as pieces of torn paper or hair.
